Permits: Driveway vs. Street

A container that sits entirely on your own property — driveway, side yard, gravel pad — needs no permit anywhere in our service area, and that covers the large majority of residential drop-offs we do. Permitting only enters the picture when the box has to sit in the street. Inside Nashua city limits, that’s handled by the City’s own Board of Public Works under City Code Ch. 285 (Streets & Sidewalks), the obstruction-license section; call ahead and we’ll help you confirm current requirements and any applicable fee before delivery day. In the other New Hampshire towns we serve — Hudson, Merrimack, Milford, Amherst, Hollis, Brookline, Pelham, Litchfield, Londonderry, and Windham — that town’s own select board or public works department handles street placement, since Hillsborough and Rockingham counties have no permitting authority of their own. What Can — and Can’t — Go In

General household debris, old furniture, flooring, drywall, cabinetry, and yard trimmings are all fair game in a residential roll-off. A handful of items aren’t. New Hampshire’s NHDES landfill ban keeps TVs, computer monitors, any screen over 4 inches diagonal, and computer CPUs out of ordinary trash disposal, and a newer NHDES ban, effective July 1, 2025, covers rechargeable lithium-ion batteries — the packs inside phones, laptops, power tools, and e-bikes — because a punctured or crushed pack is a real fire risk in a collection truck. Those need to go to a certified recycler, Call2Recycle, a participating retailer like Best Buy or Staples, or your local transfer station instead. Protecting Your Driveway

A loaded 20 or 30 yard container carries real weight, and it can leave marks on pavers or press into softer asphalt. We can lay planking under the drop point on request, and our drivers leave enough clearance around the container to swing the doors fully open, which matters more than it sounds like on a tighter in-town lot.

Scheduling Around Winter Ice Storm Season

Greater Nashua is genuinely ice-storm country, and the stretch from roughly December through March brings the real scheduling risk — heavy ice accumulation, downed limbs and lines, and hazardous roads.
